In Castles of Mad King Ludwig 2nd Edition you step into the role of a royal building contractor hired to design an extravagant residence for King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Each player begins with a modest foyer and gradually expands their own castle by purchasing and placing room tiles shaped in irregular outlines. Sleeping chambers, outdoor gardens, corridors, utility spaces and specialty rooms must be fitted together so that doorways connect and scoring conditions are met. Every time you add a room you gain castle points based on its size and type, with extra points awarded for smart positioning next to preferred neighbors and for fully enclosing rooms so every entrance leads to another tile. A key twist is the Master Builder role. At the start of each round one player becomes the Master Builder, arranges the available room tiles and sets the prices that others must pay to claim them. Those payments go directly to the Master Builder, who chooses last from the tiles that remain. This shared market creates constant tension as you decide whether to tempt opponents with discounts or price critical tiles high to protect your own plans.
